Compound Thinking

About the PAI Project(all projects)

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

Whether we’re balancing a checkbook or watching the speedometer, linear thinking permeates our lives.  However, linear thinking couldn’t help us predict the Great Recession or the technology boom, dramatic and sweeping events that changed the landscape of modern-day life.  Our research shows that compound thinking™ (thinking about change in nonlinear ways—whether it’s thinking in terms of exponents, logarithms power laws or cascades), offers us better insight into future growth and decline.  Not only is compound thinking more accurate, but it is also more in line with the way our brains naturally perceive information.  PAI is publishing a book on compound thinking™, Think Curves:  How thinking straight can keep us from seeing clearly.
